50cm Japanese Indigo Cotton

50cm Japanese Indigo Cotton

20.00

This is a very special fabric from Japan made by one of the few remaining companies producing fabric using traditional methods.

This cotton is a classic, dark blue indigo colour made through the Aizome method where the fabric is repeatedly stained. The handle of this fabric is earthy and warm due to the distinctive weavings of the warp and the weft, and when used for clothing, the fabric gently folds around the body. Fabrics dyed with indigo have many great qualities such as being hypoallergenic, UV resistant and repellent to insects.

This is a medium weight cloth, suitable for dresses, tops, pants and light weight coats and jackets. It would be perfect for accessories like bags or pouches.  It would be lovely for homeware such as cushion covers, table runners and curtains. It would also nice to use in any crafting or textile project.

Washing methods: Hand wash or gentle machine wash. As this is a natural product, some colour may escape during washing so wash separately on first wash and then with like colours after. Gently reshape the fabric when drying.

Width: 119cm

Note: Price is for 50cm of fabric but any quantity purchased will be in a single piece.
